The short version
We collect as little as we can: your name and email when you ask for an invite, and the screens you save once you're in. We don't use advertising or tracking scripts, and we never sell your information. You can ask us to see or delete your details at any time.
Who we are
Stock Meadow is a stock research website. We're responsible for the personal information described here (under European and UK data protection law, the “controller”). For anything about your information, email hello@stockmeadow.com.
What we collect
- When you ask for an invite: your name, your email address and anything you write in the message box, plus when you asked and what we decided.
- When you sign in: your email address. Sign-in uses a one-time code sent to your email, so we never see or store a password.
- When you use the app: the screens you choose to save (their names, filters and weights), linked to your email so you can open them on any device.
- When you email us: your message and email address.
We don't ask for payment details, and we don't collect your trades, holdings or brokerage accounts. The stock data in Stock Meadow is about companies, not about you.
Why we use it
- To handle your invite request and email you when it's approved, because you asked us to.
- To sign you in and keep your saved screens, which is how we provide Stock Meadow to you.
- To keep the site secure, for example checking that the invite form is filled in by a person rather than a bot. This is in our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its members.
- To reply to you when you get in touch.
We won't use your details for marketing, and we won't send you newsletters unless you ask for them.
Who helps us run the site
We use a small number of service providers, who handle information only on our behalf and under their own data protection terms:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and its database, runs the sign-in (one-time email codes), and provides the human check on the invite form. When you send the form, your IP address goes to Cloudflare for that check; we don't store it.
- Resend sends our invite emails.
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with advertisers. We'd only disclose it if the law required us to.
Cookies and browser storage
- Sign-in cookie: once you sign in to the app, Cloudflare sets a cookie that keeps you signed in. It's needed for the app to work and isn't used for tracking.
- Signed-in hint: when you open the app, we set a small cookie, shared with our home page, that only says this browser has signed in, so the home page can show “Open app” instead of “Sign in”. It holds no personal information, lasts 30 days from your last visit, and is removed when you sign out.
- Appearance: if you choose light or dark mode, that choice is saved in your own browser.
We don't use analytics or advertising cookies. Like any website host, Cloudflare keeps standard server logs and overall traffic statistics as part of running the site.
How long we keep it
We keep invite requests and your saved screens until you ask us to delete them, so we know who has been invited and your screens are there when you come back. If you ask, we'll delete your details, including your request, your saved screens and your place on the sign-in list. Emails you send us are kept only as long as we need them to help you.
Where it's processed
Our providers run services in many countries, so your information may be processed outside the country you live in, including in the United States. Where that happens, they protect it under recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your information;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests.
Email hello@stockmeadow.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're in the European Union or the United Kingdom and you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office).
Children
Stock Meadow is meant for adults and isn't aimed at anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us their details, email us and we'll delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters to members, we'll email them before it takes effect.
